Dr. Yasmine Flodin-Ali served as a consultant for The Frick Pittsburgh Museum’s newest exhibit, “Treasured Ornament: 10 Centuries of Islamic Art.” Alongside Dr. Sahar Hosseini of Pitt’s History of Art and Architecture department, Yasmine reviewed and provided feedback on the exhibition labels. Yasmine also provided an all staff training for the museum, covering an introduction to Islam and Islamophobia, an overview of the perils and advantages of the term “Islamic art,” and some background historical context to help situate the objects in the collection. “Treasured Ornament” is on view through October 20th.
